We’re excited to announce that Southeast rose grower extraordinaire, Susan Lyell of Restoration Rose in Nashville, is coming to Boggs Cottage at Three Toads Farm to lead two in-depth classes on growing roses! 

 

We'll cover the art and science of organically growing gorgeous scented roses in the hot humid climates east of the Mississippi, where we face a host of disease and pest challenges that growers in the western half of the country simply don’t. Today, Susan grows more than 700 varieties of roses (many antique and heirloom) on her organic sustainable farm.

 

In each Flower School — one is designed for home gardeners who want beautiful fragrant roses in their gardens, and one for commercial cut flower growers who want to add roses to their offerings — she’ll cover the basics of selection, planting, care and maintenance, pests and diseases, propagation and cut flowers, and also dive deeper into her earth-kind methods to promote healthy growth and beautiful blooms. 

 

Why are we doing this in March? Because it’s the PERFECT time to plant bare root roses! And we’re bringing in four of Susan’s favorite cutting varieties from Star Roses exclusively for our students! Each guest will select a bare root rose to take home, and we’ll also have limited quantities on hand for anyone who wants to purchase a few more to surround themselves with, shall we say, LOADS of fragrant, luscious blooms? We can’t blame you!

 

All supplies included, along with a fresh gourmet lunch and yummy refreshments throughout the day.

 

Please note: We have restricted class size to a max of 8 guests to provide ample social distancing and masks are required to join us. Cancellations are nonrefundable but guests may transfer their registration to a friend or family member.
